Got Some New CDsThursday, 1-12-2006, 12:54 am

Somewhere on my desk I had a list of things that I wanted to blog about, but I really have no idea where that list went. Maybe this is a sign that a blog should be unrehearsed and written as quickly as the words come to mind. So here goes...

The Rose Bowl game was unbelievably sweet! UT are the champs and everyone knows it. I've got a nice UT Rose Bowl victory banner flying in my cube at work thanks to Phillip and his mom.

I went out a couple of weeks ago and picked up some new CDs to freshen up my iPOD. I feel like I've written about this before somewhere, but it's late and I'm not gonna go check. I got Our Lady Peace's "Gravity" which I think may be a year old or more, but I don't think they've put out a new album. Normally I would go look it up right now, but like I said, it's late and stuff. I've given it a listen or two and it has a couple of good recognizable tunes -- i.e. ones that popped up on the radio. I'll have to listen more to figure out if the rest of the album is good, or if Randy (the guy who sits next to me at work) is right about them going downhill after their old guitar player left.

Shakira's "Vol 2" is pretty interesting with a few catchy tunes. I've always liked her voice even though the style isn't usually what I would listen to. The new album certainly fills a new space in the musical spectrum when compared to the (really) old stuff like "Estoy Aqui."

On a whim, I grabbed "Frances the Mute" by The Mars Volta. I didn't realize that it is what iTunes calls "Metal" and it really does have some strange sounding stuff on it. But it's different than you might think because I certainly didn't think of it as metal after an initial (partial) listen. I still don't think I've made it through the entire CD, but maybe I'll give it a go tomorrow.

"Mr. A-Z" is definitely a soft and "poppy" recording from a guy with a buttery voice. I'm still amazed at how Jason Mraz sings these songs, but I won't dwell on that too much. You wouldn't tell it from his radio hits like "I Won't Worry" or whatever it is called. He has a song on there about his reputation and writing style as perceived after his first album ("Waiting for My Rocket to Come") that's actually a pretty unique tune itself.

Ben gave me the latest release from Kevin Max called "The Imposter." After two or three listens, this one has grown on me - kinda like his first album, but this one is different. I think he really brought it together on this one and didn't get too far out in left field as he has been known to do in the past. I just checked out his new website and it actually looks pretty normal. Now if he could just get his hair under control. I see that he's got a link to MySpace on there too so I'll be looking at that later this week. I need to some sun glasses like the ones he's wearing on the myspace site. Then I'd be cool.

That MySpace stuff is one crazy success story. For those of you who didn't notice, MySpace was bought out for $580 Million. The purchaser was News Corp - the big wigs behind the Fox News Channel. I guess it will be interesting to see what happens there.

Well, I think that about does it for tonight! Be sure to check out the new photos I put up. Good night!

    OMFG!

Yesterday I received a answering message from 972-284-0600 / 9722840600 and was made to believe the call was a scammer.

I decided to file a complaint with the the company (Gulf Coast Western) and complain.

I really screwed up... Gulf Coast Western -an oil corporation- called We're contacting me about employment. Apparently I got the job

Wow, I really feel dumb. But I think I've lost my chance...???
