DrudgeReporter v1.1 (c) 2005-2006 Byron Schiel www.stumbleinside.com New in V1.1 ----------- - Default filters obtained from web at installation time - Headline menu appears when clicking tray icon (right or left click) What is DrudgeReporter? ----------------------- DrudgeReporter delivers content straight from www.drudgereport.com to your desktop. Be the first to know when new content appears on Drudge's website, and access it immediately from a dynamic list of headlines. DrudgeReporter also features an archive that will save all the older Drudge headlines for quick reference. You set the parameters, such as how often to check for new content, how long to wait before archiving content, and which content to filter out. DrudgeReporter helps you keep tabs on the news that matters! Features -------- - Flexible options for content updates, filtering, and archiving. - Can conveniently be minimized to the system tray for background monitoring. New headlines will pop up in XP style balloons! - Archiving of older headlines Using DrudgeReporter -------------------- Upon startup, DrudgeReporter will download all of the latest content posted on www.drudgereport.com. The filters specified in the options will be applied, and the unfiltered links and headlines will appear in the main window under the Current Headlines tab. Double-clicking on any headline will open it in the default web browser. You can control how often DrudgeReporter will check for headlines in the options. Archived links will appear under the Archive tab. You can control when and how headlines will be placed into the archive in the Options. By default, headlines will be auto-archived after 4 hrs in the Current Headlines tab. They will also be archived once you double- click on the headline to open it in your browser. These features are useful to keep only new, unread headlines in the Current Headlines tab. Content filters can be specified in the Options. These filters will affect the Curent Headlines tab only. Archived headlines will not be filtered. To enter a new filter, select the filter type (Headline or URL), enter the appropriate string, and click the "Add" button. The filter will be added to the list. Remove filters from the list by selecting them and pressing the DELETE key. Multiple filters can be selected at once with the aid of the SHIFT and CTRL keys. Filters are case sensitive. Future Improvements ------------------- - I have a lot of ideas to improve this application! Known Issues/Limitations ------------------------ - No error message if an internet connection is not found - Headlines that are updated by Drudge may appear twice in the Current Headlines or the Archive - If a new headline is archived and then the application is restarted, the headline will appear in the Current Headlines tab again as well as the Archive - Size of the main window is not saved/restored between instances Contact ------- Visit http://www.stumbleinside.com for the latest updates on this and other apps.
